Our 5 Year Vacation (Babymoon)

Oahu, Hawaii

For our 5 year Anniversary celebration we spent 10 days in Hawaii; little did we know that we would be considering it our babymoon too. 🙂 (I’m pretty sure Grant’s boss wouldn’t like it if we took another vacation before the baby comes) #lovemesomequalitytime

We flew out Friday, October 7th from San Francisco, right into Honolulu.  Let’s just say we about missed our vacation all together because we somehow forgot to figure San Francisco rush hour traffic into our drive time!  With a lot of prayer, some speeding, and a last-minute delayed plane, we thankfully made it.

Our first five days were spent on Oahu.  Grant chose this island but we were both looking forward to it because, I mean, it’s Hawaii!! Our accommodations in Oahu were at this condo. It was a great location within walking distance to so much and had great amenities.

Going to Oahu we knew that it was the “touristy” island with lots to keep you busy.  We chose some activities that we wanted to do during our 5 days there and began our vacation! The first day consisted of a drive to the North Shore/Turtle Bay.  On our way we stopped at the Dole Pineapple Plantation where we took a little tour of the plantation and ate some famous pineapple whip!! #onpoint

We made it to Turtle Bay where we spent the afternoon on the beach.  Grant snorkeled a little and I just enjoyed my natural habitat #thebeach  fullsizeoutput_ac2fullsizeoutput_abb

That evening we went to a Luau for dinner and then to a Hawaiian show.  This was such a fun experience! As you will see from the pics below, the pork for dinner was cooked over leaves and hot coals. fullsizeoutput_a9cfullsizeoutput_aa0img_0129img_0130Much to our surprise they called all the couples that were celebrating an anniversary on stage to do a “couples dance.”  I love to dance but this was a bit awkward lol.

The next day on the island we drove the Eastern shore. Let’s just say that as we started adventuring more through Oahu we learned that even though it is known for its activities and busy lifestyle you can make it as relaxing as you want! We literally found a new beach venue everywhere we drove. I couldn’t help myself but to test each out incase I was missing out on something. 😉  This particular area was called Halona Blowhole and was my favorite view from the vacation!

We finished that evening off with dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, Tommy Bahama. #beforedinnerselfiesimg_0164img_0157img_0163

Day 3 on the Island consisted of lots of activities!  We started by going to the USS Arizona Memorial.  I am not a huge history buff but going here you don’t need to be, you simply gain a better understanding and appreciation for those that served and lost their lives in the attacks on Pearl Harbor.

After this we went to Diamond Head Crater where we took a hike to the top of the crater.  This was definitely Grant’s choice of activity but I willingly went and determined at that.  The hike was 1 mile one way, so not bad.  I knew if we moved quickly we could have this completed in no time. #checkplease  (Reading online it took most people on average 2 hours to complete the round-trip hike)  Well let’s just say we made the round-trip and took 2o minutes for pictures, all in 1 hour!  #gettingusetothishikingthing  🙂

Let’s be real the only reason I was in hurry was for the shaved ice at the bottom. #hawaiianoriginalfullsizeoutput_ab8
As we were leaving we were greeted with this beautiful picture! #Godisgood

Our last full day in Oahu was spent on the western shore near the Disney Resort. I had heard that the beaches here were lagoons with extremely calm water and wanted to check it out.  #yetanotherbeachvenue  My plan was to spend the day at the Disney beach but with no public parking we opted to go further down the coast.  We ended up finding a different beautiful lagoon where we spent the day!  This was absolutely amazing.

To complete the day we walked to dinner in Waikiki where we found some adorable shops and restaurants.  Grant really enjoyed himself too!  #drinkingfor2img_0208img_0209
I’ll give him credit I don’t think he knew it was going to be that big. #thatfacetho

  1. Thanks for the beautiful pictures. Brings back many memories. Roger and I made 4 trips to this island in the late 70’s. Spent his 40th BD along with friends. Hope you too can go back and visit the island again. You both looks so good, and of course you will be adding a new little one to your family. God Bless You Both – Aunt Betty
